A twinkle in your eyes

The car hit the water. We looked at each other, our hands touched. Entangled we looked at the air bubbles in the dark water. 

Now there’s no turning back, you said.
I shrugged, and wondered what it would be like at the other side.
We have each other or we have nothing, you said. I touched your shoulder, and waited.

I see your eyes and they twinkle. I regard that as a good sign.
